Public Hearing Held for Project 1, Interchanges 14 – 14A

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority held a Public Hearing for the first project of the Program, the reconstruction between Interchanges 14 and 14A. The Public Hearing took place on Wednesday, June 18th, at 6:00 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson School #10 in Bayonne.

The Public Hearing included remarks from Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, a presentation, and a formal public comment period where members of the community could provide oral or written comments or questions on the record. There were also opportunities for attendees to speak one-on-one with Turnpike Authority officials and members of the Program team.

U.S. Coast Guard Issues Finding Of No Significant Impact for Project 1

On May 7, 2025, after 4 years of environmental analysis, the Coast Guard issued a Finding of No Significant Impact for the first project of the Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension Improvements Program, the reconstruction between Interchanges 14 and 14A. Poll reveals New Jersey voters support the Program

A recent poll conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University, sponsored by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, shows strong bipartisan support for the Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension Improvements Program. The survey found that 58 percent of New Jersey voters back the project, citing the need to address increased traffic jams. Anthony Russo, President of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, emphasized the importance of updating infrastructure to accommodate significant increases in shipping.
